Back in early 2000, Patrick had an idea and vision to utilize the millions of gallons of discharge water to generate clean energy. While solar and wind power were beginning to take hold, water flow to generate hydropower was far more efficient, reliable, and predictable. For the next year or so, Patrick was mentored by Hoke Thomas, a Georgia hydro engineer and titan in the hydroelectric arena. Hoke designs, fabricates, installs, and repairs hydro systems and sites around the world.

During Josh’s various roles in Business Development, he managed corporate sales of multiple business units covering the Southeastern US, a territory that boasted over $250 million in annual sales. Josh’s team closed the first major foreign fabrication project sold through Babcock Power Services on a significant coal-fired water wall replacement project. He developed multiple alliances with key utility clients and led the evolution of a single corporate sales team, replacing multiple business unit sales forces.
Josh began his path in power through graduate research at the University of Georgia on manufactured gas plant remediation projects funded by Georgia Power, a Southern Company. He then started his career with Carolina Power & Light. When Progress Energy was formed during the early 2000s, he was in the first wave of O&M management that was sent to the newly acquired generating assets in Florida, a demanding merger between non-union and unionized workforces. Following his time at Progress Energy, he was recruited by the Tennessee Valley Authority, where he was a Project Manager directing $250 million plus environmental control installations on mega coal-fired power plants.
Josh was an executive nominee and graduate of the Progress Energy Leadership Development Program, managed environmental programs for two large coal plants resulting in zero violations and the achievement of all corporate environmental goals, an Employee Recognition Award Recipient at Asheville Steam Plant, and a Carolina Power & Light Key Performer Award Recipient at H. F. Lee Plant. In addition to commissioning the Paradise Unit 3 FGD System, Josh installed the largest temporary cooling tower project that the Tennessee Valley Authority had ever attempted at Cumberland Fossil Plant.
